Hello Blog!

So, we started this blog many months ago with high hopes of posting frequently about our exciting life! Well, needless to say, the blog was neglected. We've been very busy lately working on our house and I promise to share photos soon! Stay tuned!

if you're going to san francisco

A couple of weekends ago, Bobby had to fly to San Francisco for work. Lucky for me, I was able to tag along! It ended up being the perfect vacation and quick getaway for the two of us. I told Bobby I could get used to traveling to all of his business trips.

When our hotel room wasn't quite ready, I joined Bobby at the convention center to put together his company's booth - it was a great window into his work world. Later that night we had a fabulous dinner with my sister Lauren and her boyfriend Steve at the cutest streetside pizza restaurant, Pizzaria Delfina (via jordan ferney's blog). The only thing the blog didn't mention however, is that the restaurant had 3, yes THREE, tables inside, so we waited for quite some time. But it was worth it! It was gorgeous outside and we felt a little less like tourists for the moment.

Saturday when Bobby went off to work, I went to the art museum. It turned out to be a beautiful day at the MOMA. For the record, I joined one of the public tours... nerdy, I know. The photo below was my attempt to take a Ferris Bueller's Day Off museum photo...

We were headed to Santa Rosa for the night to see Lauren, BUT tragically, we missed our rental car pickup time by 5 minutes. This is Bob trying to get us a new car... Obviously, we weren't having much luck. Since we were stranded in the city, we ended up going to a great dinner in Russian Hill.

We ended the wonderful weekend with a great dinner at Boulevard -- one of the best restaurants in SF. And to top off an already fabulous trip, I ran into Emily that night in the city. What a small world it is.

It was the perfect vacation and I think by the end we both were fans of the big city and hopefully will be back again soon!

the newlywed's bucket list...

First off, my apologies for neglecting the blogworld. I've yet to post on Domestic Chic or sweet Tupelo Honey in quite awhile... I promise I will get better at it one of these days...

And second, I came across an article on "The Nest" yesterday that I wanted to share. I rarely visit this site, but when I receive the daily emails, sometimes the subjects spark my interest.

As a newlywed, I'm frequently asked, "When do you think you will have kids??!"... And my answer is usually, not for awhile :). We love kiddos, but currently we have 10 (yes, TEN!) nieces and nephews to get our baby fill, so I think we're set for a few more years. And plus, we came to the conclusion that there are many "to do's" left on our newlywed bucket list. Keep reading for our list...

Here's a few from the Nest and a few of our own. I hope we can cross all these off!

1) make a list of all the restaurants/bars in your city that you'd like to visit
Bobby and I love to go out to dinner and out on the town. And with kids, we'll certainly miss the spontaneity of going out to dinner on the fly. So we definitely want to tackle this one.

2) take a roadie
We've been wanting to do this for awhile. Probably a road trip to Chicago for a Cubs game and some shopping. We're hoping to cross this one off this fall...

3) appreciate the bathroom alone
This one is too funny. But important! With only one bathroom in our tiny bungalow, I know this is going to be interesting.

4) travel abroad
Neither of us were able to study abroad in college, so a trip to Europe is in sight. We hope. ;)

5) go back to Hawaii
We had the most amazing honeymoon in Maui... I'd like to re-live that trip in the next couple of years. (Thank goodness for Bobby's frequent flyer miles!)

6) be spontaneous
We say this to each other a lot. Feel like going to the lake this weekend? Why not pick up and head out on a Friday afternoon... Sounds great to me!

7) spend an entire day in bed watching movies together
Bobby knows me well. When I sent him the article, he knew immediately that this is the "to do" that sold me on the article. I love lazy days. Bobby loves Netflix. It's a perfect combination.

So there you go, what would you add to your "bucket list?"

jayhawks & bbq

Last week Bobby decided to buy a smoker. Totally random I thought, but it turned out to be a very fabulous purchase. Saturday, at the crack of dawn, he started smoking a 7lb brisket complete with an Oklahoma Joe's rub he made. And it was delicious.

We invited a few of his friends over, along with his brother Jimmy and his wife Brittany, to share in the goodness. Not only was the food amazing, but we were able to watch the Jayhawks win the Big 12 Championship. (Rock Chalk!)

It was a very successful Saturday to say the least. The smoker was a smart purchase on Bobby's part and the brisket was a labor of love - so, thank you!

P.S. Bobby did not want to be featured in the blog, but I had to post these cute pics. Love you. :) xoxo

P.P.S. I need a new camera...

welcome

So I recently started a blog with my sister, which has been so fun -- it's just a great way to keep track of our events, interests and unique things we come acress. It has been so great in fact, I decided to start a "family" blog for Bobby, Louie and me. Things are not far from ordinary as newlyweds in Prairie Village, KS, but I wanted to make sure we're capturing the moments that take place as we begin our journey as a family. Welcome to our life. Enjoy.
